Sustained
adjective/noun
sus·tained sə-ˈstānd
: maintained at length without interruption or weakening : LASTING, PROLONGED
: a trio that writes and performs original soundtrack instrumentals
Sustained started in late 2024 after an impromptu jam between Renata Annati and Robert Annati. It was the first time the siblings played together in 25 years.
In the mid-’90s, they were both in a rock band called Itanna, with another sister and two other brothers: Rossella, Matt, and Mark. Itanna was their last name spelled backward.
After Mark and Robert moved on, the three remaining family members created a rock trio called China Doll. That band endured until Rossella suffered an aortic dissection that left her paralyzed.
A year after Rossella died in 2023, Robert invited Renata over to jam. Sustained was created with the addition of Steve Carsello – who had a close relationship with Rossella, and who became a friend of the family. They settled on the name Sustained because of all they’ve endured over the years.
